Most couples don't come to therapy because of one big problem. They come because the same small things keep turning into the same big fights, or because the fighting stopped and the distance started.
Underneath, one of you is usually asking "Do you see me?" while the other is asking "Am I enough?" Couples therapy helps you hear the question underneath.
Couples I work with are often dealing with
- Recurring arguments that never get resolved
- One partner pursuing while the other withdraws
- Rebuilding trust after an affair or a betrayal
- Feeling more like roommates than partners
- Stress after a new baby, a move, or a career change
- Differences in parenting, money, or family boundaries
- Wanting to strengthen a relationship before problems grow
How I work with couples
My approach is attachment-focused and trauma-informed. Together we map the cycle you get caught in: what each of you does, what you feel underneath, and what you're each needing. Once you can see the cycle, you can step out of it together.
We also look at how earlier experiences, in childhood or past relationships, shape how safe it feels to be close now. Sessions are a place where both of you are heard and neither of you is the "bad guy." I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an approach built on attachment research that helps couples rebuild a secure bond.
What couples therapy can help you build
- A shared understanding of your cycle, so fights de-escalate sooner
- Ways to talk about hard things without it turning into a battle
- Repair skills for the moments you do hurt each other
- Trust, closeness and intimacy that feel safe again

How long does couples therapy take?
It depends on what you're working through. Many couples meet weekly or every other week for several months, and we check in on progress together along the way.

Can we do couples therapy online?
Yes. Sessions are available in person in Greenville or by secure video for couples located in South Carolina or North Carolina.
How much does it cost?
Couples sessions are $140 for 55 minutes.
